Product operations
Duolite QS is a Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser with two wavelengths of 1064 nm (infrared) and 532 nm (green light). Q-Switch technology makes it possible to produce extremely high power (a few Megawatt) for an extremely short amount of time (a number of nanoseconds). Light energy with these properties causes selective photomechanical effects, capable of fragmenting the inks in tattoos or melanin, in benign pigmented lesions, into small particles that can be absorbed by the body through the lymph system. This allows the Duolite QA to remove different colours in tattoos and also deep-lying pigmented lesions in a safe and efficient manner, even with dark skin types.
Q&A
Which type of tattoos can be removed with the Duolite QS?
Duolite QS can be used for professional tattoos, amateur tattoos, cosmetic tattoos and tattoos resulting from a trauma. Black and blue inks react best to the 1064nm wavelength. Red inks and pigment are treated using the 532 nm wavelength.
How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments will strongly depend on the type, colour, depth, density, location on the body and age of the patient and tattoo. Amateur tattoos respond better and disappear on average after 1 to 4 sessions (with an interval of four weeks). More sessions are required for professional tattoos: on average six to ten sessions ( with an interval of six to eight weeks).
Is the treatment painful?
Treatment is usually tolerated without anaesthesia and is described as the feeling of elastic tapping against the skin. Lasermedico advises the use of Laser Aid (Geistlich) for dampening the pain and extra cooling and protection of the epidermis.
